International Lace Biennial - Cantù

The Cantù Lace Biennial, after the great succes of the past editions, is at present one of the most important lace exhibits in Italy. The 7th edition will be devoted to a very interesting theme that puts together the two traditional proutions of this land: "Dreamlike laces - Furniture and Lace arts and crafts from XVIII century to present days".

The present and the future is the main goal of the 5^th International bobbin lace pattern Competition, with the following theme: "project for hamd-made bobbin lace dedicated to clothing and textile furniture for bedrooms. The Competition will be divided, as usual, into two sections, "Tradition" and "Innovation". The winning projects (gold and silver medals prizes, and special mention for schools), as well as all the other projects accepted, will all be shown in the Biennial.

The town of Cantù will get dressed for the occasion: lots of shops will show lace and lace-related items in their windows, lace sellers stands and lacemakers from the different lace schools, with lace demonstrations, will also take part to the event.
