Web: http://www.bancadianghiariestia.it/oratorio/turismo/tombolo_artigianato.html Bobbin lace tradition in Anghiari is quite old. Reports from the first years of XIX century testify of a great number of Anghiari women making lace works: it was a source of money for families, even if it required many hours of work. A first feature is the traditional pillow, flat and not tubular like in
other Italian regions: it is called Pagnotta (round loaf) and lace
is woked with hands down, with bobbins lying on the cushion. In the 50s, with the industrialization a
period of decline started for bobbin lace. Some ten years ago we tried to
renew this tradition almost lost, offering annual courses. We're three
ladies who wanted to save this art and decided to let people know about
and try to work it again. Now we can say a number of willing women joined
us and work again bobbin lace
